All research to be conducted on laboratory animals in the Republic of Turkey is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Law on the Protection of Animals No. 5199, the European Convention for the Protection of Vertebrate Animals Used for Experimental and Other Scientific Purposes, and the Regulation on the Working Procedures and Principles of Animal Experimentation Ethics Committees published in the Official Gazette dated February 15, 2014 and numbered 28914.

All scientific research and educational activities (research projects, graduate thesis studies, etc.) to be conducted using laboratory animals at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University are evaluated by the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Animal Experiments Local Ethics Committee (MAKÜ-HADYEK), and implementation cannot begin without the approval of the ethics committee.

MAKÜ-HADYEK regularly meets in accordance with the relevant regulatory provisions to evaluate research applications; it assesses scientific necessity, animal welfare, the 3Rs principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement), and ethical considerations.

MAKÜ-HADYEK applications are accepted through the MAKÜ-HADYEK Secretariat in accordance with the current application procedures and principles. The relevant application guide and forms should be reviewed for the application process and required documents.

The Laboratory Animal Use Certificate Program organized by MAKÜ-HADYEK is conducted in collaboration with the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Laboratory Animal Production and Experimental Research Center.
